LiveCosts was created to answer a question most contractors come across and certainly one we regularly asked “is this project profitable”. For such an easy question the answer seemed difficult to get to.

Our History

Brothers Ciaran and Niall Brennan were contracting in Perth, Australia, where they struggled to determine which projects, or elements within them, were truly profitable, and not for the first time ! Despite using an accounting software, they relied on complex spreadsheets to fill the gaps. When moving back home to Ireland, they wondered, ‘Do other contractors face this issue?’

This led to the founding of LiveCosts in 2018. Since its launch in 2020, LiveCosts has expanded globally, learning from and helping countless contractors streamline their cost management.

Meet The Founders

Ciaran Brennan

Ciaran brings over 25 years of practical construction experience. Following the classic path from tradesman to business owner, he has successfully managed and owned contracting businesses across Ireland and Australia. Ciaran is passionate about tackling customer challenges and demonstrating how LiveCosts can offer effective solutions.

Niall Brennan

From Carpenter to Business Owner, Niall’s journey through the SMB sector has given him hands-on industry insight in Ireland,UK, Australia and the US. He thrives on problem-solving and spends most of his time enhancing the LiveCosts platform. Niall believes the best way to improve software is by engaging with customers daily, understanding their needs, and shaping the product around their feedback.

Diarmuid Quinn

As the technical leader of LiveCosts, Diarmuid brings extensive experience in the software industry. He leads an in-house team of web and mobile developers and takes pride in seeing the platform thrive. Passionate about problem-solving, Diarmuid transforms everyday customer challenges into streamlined, easy-to-use solutions, ensuring LiveCosts delivers the best user experience.

It has been a game changer for us. We now use QuickBooks for head line reporting of profit & loss and LiveCosts provides the drill down into each project.
